Staying positive
I am trying really hard today to stay positive, but keep being dragged into pity party mode. I really did not want to spend our 12th anniversary sitting in a room at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. We miss our kids and we want to go home.

New Couch, Almost.
There's nothing I love better than a good before and after, and although this may not be the most dramatic one, it makes me smile. It's amazing how completing one 90 minute project with fabric I already had in the house totally changed my outlook on life weeks. Time to find a new project. FYI, these are not new pillows, just new pillow covers, and really the before was a little worse than it even looked as one of those pillows was melted and burned black on the other side.

A story by Parker
I was in my room playing with my control helicopter and two people (their names were Donna and Preston) came into the house and then they came into the room. and then they found a treasure map and we walked a long, long, loooong way. My helicopter, I drived it with which it was kind of a fun time. Then we finally found the treasure. Then we used our secret eyes to look inside it and Donna and Preston let me have all the treasure. They wanted me to have it, but when Preston came to my house he was in a toy car. The End.

Brothers will be Brothers
Hayden and Parker were sitting in the back of the truck while John was doing chores. They were instructed to stay there so the big mean rooster wouldn't get them. Parker got out and was attacked by the rooster (broke the skin just below his armpit). The next day, I asked him why he got out of the truck. He got out because Hayden promised him ten cents if he would go and chase the rooster. Man, it was hard not to laugh and reinforce that behavior.
Man does that bring back memories...

Farewell 20's
Today is my last day as a 20 something. I can no longer say "I'm only twenty-whatever." The word "only" just doesn't fit in front of the word thirty. It doesn't. I really didn't think this would bug me, but it kind of is. The next big birthday is 40. eeek.
The twenties have been good to me, for the most part. I graduated from college, had 3 children, traveled to Germany, Denmark, and took a cruise to Mexico. I have made countless friends who then moved away to cool places and made new friends. I built a house (okay so not literally, but John and I did act as general contractor and do a large part of the finish work). When I turned twenty, only computer geeks blogged, and the guy who owns facebook was not yet old enough to drive. In my 20's, I discovered that I love Indian food, snorkeling, teaching, snow peas, Thai Curry, planting a garden, being a mother, and watching my kids learn new things.
I wonder what things I will discover and love in my 30's. What things will I lose? Which people will I lose? Who will I meet that will change my life? What challenges will there be, and what will I learn from them? What kind of teenagers will my boys turn into? (Is there more than one kind? I think so)
One way or another, there are bound to be some adventures, and since I have no choice in the matter, Bring It On! ...I guess.
